Fixed-Mobile Convergence: Architecture and Technology

Abstract

A group of experts from TIM, Wireline and TiLab deal with the fixed-mobile convergence within the context of Telecom Italia´s first meeting with the Financial Community held in April 2005, where strategies regarding this convergence were discussed. Thus, the authors examine the possible evolutions in a three-year period aiming at exposing the synergies and peculiarities of the new architecture of fixed and mobile network. A historical background based on the genesis of this approach is taken as a starting point giving path to those issues related to the architecture and technology. Moreover, they explain some basic aspects to explore current and future possibilities for this technology.
