Abstract

The Virtual Private Network is built from the connections of a shared infrastructure with security and network functionalities equivalent to those obtained in a real private network. The VPNs’ aim is to support the intra/extranet applications together with the integration of multimedia applications of voice, data and video over profitable and efficient communication infrastructures. The author describes and classifies the traditional VPN.
