The Telecommunications Business Process Framework. Benefit analysis and feasibility assessment

The process management in the telecommunications industry has been developed as one of the responses toward the increasing complexity of the sector, the market liberalization and the services convergence. One of the organizations that has contributed with concrete initiatives in this sense is the Telemanagement Forum, which is made up of several leading corporations in the telecommunications sector at the international level and conducts research in practically all fields of business management. Among the models and technologies developed by this organization, the Telecommunications Business Process Framework is included. This article analyzes its benefits and the viability for its use in ETECSA. Firstly, the advantages of the model were identified and its viability was evaluated using a methodology developed by the author, which integrates evaluation requirements from various reference methods selected from the literature. The evaluation is carried out taking into account several criteria such as its taxonomic integrity, its focus on the business, its flexibility, among others. The study showed that the Telecommunications Business Process Framework is a functional, standard and neutral model. In addition, it is established that it is not only a appropriet initiative for the management of telecommunications processes, but it can also be a viable strategy to take advantage of the contributions of the business architecture to address industry challenges.
