Proposal of a general method to estimate the QoE for OTT video streaming services

Abstract

The new features that video streaming shows in OTT services, such as the use of the adaptive streaming and the MPEG-DASH standard, mean a change of approach compared to other more traditional streaming techniques; therefore, new methods are required to estimate the QoE. This paper describes the conditions under which the OTT video streaming services develop as the starting point to define the main aspects that affect the user's perception of such services. To conclude, it offers a proposal to estimate the quality of experience perceived by users of OTT video streaming services.
