Abstract

The multimedia History of Translation and Interpretation in Cuba is part of the project of the same name that originated in September 2006 by initiative of the Translation Unit from the Center of Scientific and Technical Information of ETECSA. Its objective is to learn about the origin and the evolution of translation and interpretation as a profession in Cuban society. The project is the result of a careful screening process that allowed for the collection and organization of information on the topic through articles, documents, data, interviews and images. This first volume includes information dating back to the conquest of the Americas (1492), and offers a historical journey to the present, particularly highlighting important personalities and events related to the development of translation and interpretation in our country.
