Possibilities of a Hybrid Access Network GPON-BPL for Society Informatization

Abstract

This article deals with new potentialities of the combination between passive optical access networks and Broadband Power Lines systems in order to facilitate the spread of society informatization at low costs and a rapid return on investment. Users are also benefited with lower service tariffs and a bigger bandwidth that supports a variety of services. Accordingly, technological details of this proposal are given and a com-parative analysis with other access technologies is presented as an example of the advantages of this solution.
