WiMAX: a Solution for Rural Communities Requiring Telephone Services

Abstract

The article presents WiMAX technology as a communication solution for most rural communities in Cuba having no telephone services. Consequently, it takes account of the better use of the leading features of this equipment based on standard compared to the diverse traditional wireless broadband access systems. The proposal suggests the use of this technology as IP transport combined with the employment of the NGN platform installed in the country.
