Abstract

Today, it is necessary the analysis of IPv6 directionality problems, its imminent dissipation due to the development of other science branches — such as cellular telephony, modems, xDSL, etc. —, which require fixed IP addresses. Therefore, it is compulsory the migration to a new version of this protocol: IPv6. This article takes account of the most important issues for analysing IPv4 main problems and featuring IPv6, the differences between them, as well as the mechanism of transition and some information about the actions carried out in our country for the implementation of this new IP protocol version.
