Abstract

The increasingly growth of network systems and services requires the adoption of new proposals for detecting computer attacks. Detection systems, both those designed for the protection of the backbone and those for the protection of the intranet and the users are basic elements of an updated security infrastructure. This article describes and analyzes the evolution on this sector focusing on issues derived from research. It also illustrates the outcomes from the studies and new solutions conducted by Telecom Italia
