Abstract

This article gives a background of the principal protocols and protocol families mostly used worldwide in New Generation Networks — NGN — or in the processes of migration towards them. The authors place special emphasis on the MEGACO (H.248) protocol as a support for migration processes towards the NGN of telecommunications carriers such as ETECSA.
