Advances in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) together with those of 5G and 6G communications networks have facilitated the exchange of information and enabled the evolution of the Fintech market. However, cybercriminals have also targeted these technologies with the firm determination to render TELCOs and governments inoperative and obtain financial gain through blackmails and the theft of sensitive information as a result of these cyberattacks. This study focuses on analyzing the increasing impact of cybersecurity on telecommunications industry. Threats such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, banking Trojans, zero-day vulnerabilities, and AI-driven malware are described. As a result, it is clear that new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and e-commerce have increased vulnerability and the interrelation between regulatory bodies, companies, and governments. This is evident through regulatory frameworks and the constant training of users, which are crucial elements in addressing these threats.
