Abstract

The eastern area of the island of Cuba is included in the TMA (Terminal Maneuvering Area) Santiago, where there is an ongoing increase of the air traffic flow for having two international airports. This part of the country has a complex orography, and the installed surveillance systems are not able to ensure the coverage at different flight levels. With the worldwide development of surveillance technologies as Multilateration and Surveillance Dependent Automatic-Broadcast, the integration of the collected data from these systems together with those provided by radar systems has been achieved; so as to efficiently meet the requirements established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) currently required for carrying out tasks. This research is intended to assess the data integration provided by these surveillance techniques, in order to propose a new system providing greater coverage volume to the TMA Santiago and superior, in terms of accuracy, precision and redundancy, to the one already deployed today.
