Blockchain, a disruptive technology towards the Internet that conveys values

Abstract

Blockchain is a working paradigm on networks encouraging a revolutionary change in the Internet. Since its origin, it has been a timeless source of information, also becoming, in this last decade, a source of value generation, a fact that was made possible with the appearance of cryptocurrencies, mainly with Bitcoin in 2009. Blockchain appears to give legitimacy and security to this cryptocurrency, but, over time, greater potentialities in its use have been found, covering different areas, from its primary scenario: the financial, to the political, military, health environments, reaching the IoT -Internet of Things-. This article aims at describing the basic fundamentals of a Blockchain netwo rk, the way it works and the different existing types, exposing the main advantages and disadvantages, while focusing on the different uses they have at the international level. It ends with the advantages that would bring in a small-scale implementation of this network paradigm in different areas of society, for the development of the computerization projects in Cuba.
