Abstract

In this article, the author widely explains the advantages and the development of DSL technology — Digital Subscriber Line —. DSL is a data transmission way that operates at high speed via copper pair cables to interconnect the end user with a network node. It uses telephone common lines, fulfils the speed demanded by the user and reduces cost and time installation. Besides, it allows displacing fiber optic cables to those applications that do not required high speeds and to those that are sensible to costs. This makes DSL a worldwide technology.
