Abstract

This article shows the functioning principle of a new generation technology in the access (NGA), named as passive optical networks with a capacity of gigabit-GPON, supported by optical fiber as a transmission means. The author evaluates the field-test results done in the historical center, with the aim of providing Internet connectios to the homes and enterprises.
