GSM System, its Evolution and Application in Cuba

Abstract

In this article, the author presents an introductory review about the GSM system and its evolution towards third generation networks, besides, proposes the necessity to implement a modern type of GSM network developed in our country. This implementation would allow to obtain the advantages and benefits, that represent the introduction of the last technological advances related to networks and mobile services. The author takes as basis the infrastructure of the transport and data networks deployed in the country today. He also makes a technical-economic analysis about the best way to implement the GSM modern network and the main services that will permit to extract, from data mobile market, an annual minimum of 25 US millions that, in this moment, are not being received because of the lack of a sufficiently advanced mobile network.
