An approach to hybrid fiber coaxial networks

Abstract

HFC networks are composed by optical fiber lines and coaxial cables creating a broadband transmission network. This article addresses this which represents a step forward compared with the pioneer cable television coaxial networks. All issues related to its structure —main components, networking and offered services— are tackled. Its implementation in the north cay touristic area of Villa Clara is presented, as a way of an application example in Cuba.
