Abstract

Millions of hosts connect to Internet daily with a high configuration and communication transparency; however, each PC has the tortuous role of identifying itself in the network to achieve a good communication with the rest. The Domain Name System identifies each host and its routing system, changing the domain names into an IP. Because of the importance of these servers, it is necessary an appropriate configuration that guarantees a higher network security. The present paper analyzes key issues that should be taken into account when configuring a DNS. Deficiencies due to a nonreliable DNS and the measures to be applied in such a case are also presented. The article provides an example of a named.conf. file configuration.
