Abstract

In telecommunication networks, traffic routing is closely linked to the network architecture deployed by each operator. Networks are evolving constantly as a result of technological advances and economic environment. For a settled operator, who has invested in traditional networks, emerging of new generation networks arises a question related to NGN routing or the interconnection between both types of networks. This article explains general aspects of network routing based on Internet Protocol. Elements about the interconnection between new and traditional networks are included.
